History of the London Homelessness Awards

Our History

The awards were originally set up in memory of Andy Ludlow, director of housing and social services at Haringey Council. He was a pioneer in developing a holistic approach to housing and social services. After he died at the age of just 51 London’s housing directors set up the Andy Ludlow Homelessness Awards as a lasting legacy and testament to his tireless work in the sector.

The London homelessness Awards are recognised as the premier awards for housing and homelessness organisations. We have given out over £1m in prize money. The awards culminate in a high-profile ceremony in central London attended by people from across the sector with Baroness Louise Casey presenting the prizes.

Winners over the year have included local authority teams, big organisations, small organisations and organisations working in partnership. The awards embrace innovation and encourage radical but practical solutions to homelessness and rough sleeping in London.
